Are Glass and Wheel Coatings Worth Adding on Oʻahu?

When you build a ceramic coating estimate, glass and wheels show up as separate choices. They are smaller decisions than the coating system itself, but they can change how easy the car is to live with day to day. Here is what each add-on does, what it does not do and when it makes sense.

The short answer

Glass coating and wheel coating are $75 each on the 5-year and 8-year systems and are included with the Luxe-backed lifetime system. They can make cleaning easier, but they do not replace regular cleaning.

01 · What glass coating adds

A glass coating changes how water behaves on the windshield and windows and can make the glass easier to clean. It is not a replacement for working wipers, and it cannot fix glass that is already damaged. Chipped, cracked or pitted glass needs repair, not a coating.

On Oʻahu, glass sees a mix of rain, sprinkler overspray, road film and salt air. Anything that helps water and grime release more easily can make routine cleaning quicker, which is the main practical benefit.

02 · What wheel coating adds

A wheel coating is intended to make brake dust easier to clean off. It does not protect against curb damage. The $75 add-on covers the wheel faces.

Brake dust that sits on wheels for a long time is harder to remove and tempts owners into harsher cleaners and scrubbing. A coated wheel face is meant to make regular, gentler cleaning more effective.

03 · When the add-ons make the most sense

Glass coating tends to be most useful for owners who commute with the car parked outside, drive often in rain or park near sprinklers. Wheel coating suits cars that build up heavy brake dust.

If you want both, compare the cost against the lifetime system. On the 5-year and 8-year systems, the two add-ons together are $150; on the lifetime system both are already included.

04 · Maintenance still controls the experience

A coating makes cleaning easier; it does not make cleaning optional. These habits help both add-ons perform:

  • Use non-abrasive glass cleaners.
  • Remove brake dust early rather than letting it build up.
  • Dry glass and wheels after washing.
  • Inspect for chips, curb rash or other damage.
